After holding strong right around 95-100% throughout the winter, some recent dry weather has brought the Snowy Range snow-water-equivalent percentage down to 85-90%
Hopefully we see a few more spring storms to bolster the snowpack up high before runoff really gets going. The Laramie and North Platte Rivers are starting to rise, although I do not expect either river to jump up too dramatically this week with some more cold weather in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. Flows should continue to rise for the next 2-3 days and we will most likely see a drop by the weekend, which should make for some pretty good fishing.
Overall, our snowpack is not bad, but could certainly be better. We will have to wait and see what this weekend's precipitation brings and keep our fingers crossed for another spring snowstorm or two. As of right now, expect fishing to start to pick up as water temperatures rise and fish become more active. In the big picture, anglers can expect good flows and spring conditions, but as of right now, we may be looking at some lower water conditions by mid July unless we get a little more spring precipitation.
I will be getting out on the water this week and following up with a detailed fishing report, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date with Laramie and North Platte River fishing reports throughout the season!
